From our own experience, and research bears this out, teacher evaluation/supervision systems that rely on long list of teaching standards and periodic observations have little impact on student learning. We have taken a different approach to professional growth. We built culture agreements expressed as principles then we turn those into agreed practices. We express those in terms of learner impact so we described learner practices first. Then we provide teachers with the tools to create those classroom cultures. Instead of each teacher writting multiple goals we focus together on one Collective Impact Goal. Since we know that collective teacher efficacy has the biggest impact on student learning, we build teacher efficacy... collectively.

EXPLORE THE CULTURE COMPONENTS
Cultures share aspirations so we work together to develop A Portrait of a Learner, which serves as the "End in Mind" for everything we do in the culture.
Cultures share a language so we provide a shared learning definition that describes learning in terms of conceptual, competency and character growth.
It's only a culture if everybody belongs and can be successful so we work with schools to create systemic Student Success Services to make sure that everybody learns.
Cultures share celebrations so we have highly developed approaches to Learning Exhibitions.
