Historically, we've seen that schools experience great difficulty in achieving the "Holy Grail" of a curriculum that is fully articulated both vertically and horizontally. This may be for many reasons which we can sum up as "It's hard to work on school in school". Out of empathy and respect for our fellow educators around the world we have taken on the challenge of providing our partner schools with a comprehensive curriculum framed by a clear set of scalable design principles. All of the above delivers on the promise of the elusive articulated curriculum and saves schools from major expenditures of time, energy and material resources.
The key components are:

THE PORTRAIT OF A LEARNER
The six Human Capacities that provide the end in mind for our curriculum design.

THE LEARNING MAPS
Consistent, continuous Scope and Sequences all designed to the same principles. These map out the nature of the discipline, its key strands and concepts and our Conceptual, Competency and Character Goals (standards) organised into developmentally aligned continua. We draw our Competency Goals from the best international/national sources and can customize them for the context of any school.

THE LEARNING MODULES
These Modules translate our Learning Maps into classroom ready units of learning. We have found that our partner schools really appreciate being provided with these Modules, which teachers can obviously customize and personalize for their location, their students and their own preferred learning experiences.

THE LEARNING MATRIX
This Matrix embeds our Learning Modules into a complete overview of the school's learning program with the modules organized into spiral sequences that ensure that learners re-engage with key concepts with predictable regularity.

THE BALANCED ASSESSMENT SYSTEM (BAS)
This system offers a complete framework for assessment, recording and reporting of/for/as learning framed by 5 key Assessment Principles.

THE CO-CURRICULAR LEARNING PROGRAM
This simple approach transforms the idea of "school and afterschool activities" into intentional Pathways to the Portrait, both curricular and co-curricular.

LEARNING TO LEARN
This element in the system intentionally treats learning itself as curriculum and provides learners and teachers with practical toolkits designed to provide learners with agency in navigating their own learning pathways.

THE CHANGEMAKER CHALLENGES
We believe in the importance of the curricular disciplines and also in the power of well-designed interdisciplinary learning experiences. A powerful and practical way to achieve balance is through our annual Changemaker Challenges.
