We believe in the importance of the curricular disciplines and also in the power of well-designed interdisciplinary learning experiences. A powerful and practical way to achieve balance is through our annual Changemaker Challenges.
These are important problem-solving projects, often service-related and/or linked to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). When developing these Challenges with our Learners we use a very different planning approach. Gaining deep understanding of, say, scientific principles is not the same as tackling a real world problem. For our Challenges, we have based our thinking on Human Centered Design so that we always begin with empathy. Here is a quick overview of the Human Centered Design.

THE CHANGEMAKER CHALLENGES PLANNER
We prepare learners with a unique tool to Changemaker Challenge Planner. The Changemaker Challenge Planner helps learners balance disciplinary depth with interdisciplinary impact. Using Human-Centered Design, students begin with empathy, research root causes, co-create solutions, and reflect on outcomes—developing the mindset and skills to address real challenges with compassion and rigor.
EXPLORE THE CURRICULUM COMPONENTS
This Matrix embeds our Learning Modules into a complete overview of the school's learning program.
This system offers a complete framework for assessment, recording and reporting of/for/as learning framed by 5 key Assessment Principles.

This simple approach transforms the idea of "school and afterschool activities" into intentional Pathways to the Portrait, both curricular and co-curricular.
This element in the system intentionally treats learning itself as curriculum and provides learners and teachers with practical toolkits designed to provide learners with agency.
